Supreme Court To Hear Next Week SLP Against Appointment

The Supreme Court on Thursday asked the Centre for Public Interest Litigation to file an SLP against the Delhi High Court judgment dismissing the challenge to the appointment of IPS officer Rakesh Asthana as the Commissioner of Delhi Police. The Apex Court said it will consider the matter next Friday. This order was passed by the bench of Justices D. Y. Chandrachud and A. S. Bopanna while considering a writ petition filed by CPIL under Article 32 challenging the appointment of Asthana.

A Delhi Court yesterday disposed of as withdrawn a plea filed by BJP Delhi Media Head and Spokesperson Naveen Kumar Jindal against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for allegedly disclosing the identity of 9-year-old minor victim who was allegedly gang-raped and murdered in Delhi Cantt area. Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Dharmendra Singh of Rouse Avenue Court took on record the statement made by Jindal that he wishes to withdraw the complaint with liberty to file afresh before the appropriate court.

Supreme Court Dismisses CBSE-ICSE Students' Plea Seeking Hybrid Option For Class X-XII Term Exams

The Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed a writ petition filed by students seeking urgent directions to conduct Class X and XII CBSE and ICSE Term I exexams in a hybrid manner for November 18, 2021. The bench of Justices AM Khanwilkar and CT Ravikumar dismissed the petition observing that the CBSE term exams have already commenced on November 16 and intervention at this juncture will disturb the process. The bench also noted in the order that the ICSE term exams are commencing from next Monday, November 22.

Tripura High Court Directs Closure Of Shops In-State Selling Wild Animals

The Tripura High Court on Tuesday directed the authorities under the Wildlife (Protection) Act to take action regarding the closure of all such shops in the state of Tripura where animals and birds notified under the Act are being sold. It is because Essentially, the Court was hearing a 2015 PIL filed regarding preventing cruelty to animals and highlighting poor conditions of certain stray animals and pets in the capital city of Tripura, Agartala.
