"motor car", a motorized tricycle patented until 1886 with a
maximum speed of 16 km/h. Bertha Benz, the wife of Karl

3, 1888, he and his two sons made the first long journey in
Germany in a car, from Mannheim to Pforzheim, using the
motor car to demonstrate the vehicle's reliability and
strength. The Benz Motorwagen had a 0.9 hp engine and a top speed
of 16 km/h, very important numbers for the tools and

Wilhelm Maybach were also working on their vehicle.
