Dumas Beach, Surat This black-sand beach in Gujarat was once an important Hindu cremation site, and it's this history that gives it an air of mystery. The cheerful atmosphere in the morning fades with the sunset, and at night locals avoid Dumas Beach as much as possible.
From blood curdling shrieks to whispers, people reportedly have heard haunting sounds coming from Dumas, which are said to be the spirits of tormented souls. Some attribute the black sand to the ashes of cremated corpses, and on top of that, nearby dogs bark all night long, sensing a paranormal presence. Everything about Dumas Beach makes it the last place you want to be at night.
